We Settle for Almost

September 21, 2015

Family and Friends,
My heart is full of gratitude for the wonderful things happening in the Washington Yakima Mission. We truly feel the Lord guiding us in all that we do and we appreciate his efforts to bless our brothers and sisters.
We had another Doctrine of Christ and Trainer/Trainee meeting this week which was eventful. When we arrived at the building, we were made aware that the entire church was under construction. No carpet, no furniture, completely bare! It was one of those moments where you simply laugh because you have no idea how to tackle the situation. There were no other church buildings in the area so we improvised. We had the three hour meeting outside. After, we ran over to the Ephrata Stake Center and had the Trainer/Trainee meeting there. Seeing friends so often always puts a huge smile on my face. The mission field is a great place to create friendships.
The work in the Yakima 3rd Ward is going great. We recently had another companionship of Elders join us in the ward. Elders Jensen and Carroll. Ray is continually coming to church and made our jaws drop yesterday when he answered a difficult question about the Book of Mormon in Elders Quorum. Rocky is progressing well. This week he claimed that he knew the church was true and he knows which direction he wants to take. Rocky will enter into the waters of baptism soon.
This week we will be traveling around the mission for zone conferences. Tomorrow we will be in Moses Lake, the day after will be in Wenatchee, and the day after we will come back home to Yakima. Our training is titles, "Favorite OYM Starters." An OYM means (Open Your Mouth). It will be a training on how to be comfortable with talking to others on the street and on door steps. We are incredibly thrilled to tour the mission.
I hope your weeks are wonderful! I love you so very much.

Love Always,
Elder Smith
